What was your priority when creating your nursery space?
My designer Lindsey Spearman knew I wanted to create a space that was timeless and sophisticated, but a little different! Something that was not overly "baby" so we could grow with the nursery into toddler hood. I wanted to add a touch of the coast, as a nod to where we live, without going full on nautical/beach themed. This is why we chose the Marsh-view art over the crib and commissioned the sweet sea turtle painting. Lindsey helped me pick out a beautiful Ocean Toile fabric for the ottoman to compliment the gingham crib skirt. This gave me that traditional toile and gingham look, but with a little coastal twist!
What is your favorite piece in your nursery?
That is a tough one! I love it all, but I would say the artwork over both the glider and crib. The island we live on is known for having the Atlantic Ocean roll on one side while the calm and quiet salt marsh ebbs and flows on the other. We are also home to a large population of nesting Sea Turtles. All of these things came into mind while I was deciding what art I would pick for our Nursery. The Sea Turtle above the glider is extra special because it was a commissioned piece, painted by a childhood friend of mine who is now an artist!
How do you create the perfect sleeping environment for your child?
For the perfect sleeping environment I worked with my designer Lindsey, to add a neutral tone woven shade in addition to our drapery that can serve as an extra layer to keep the room nice and dark for sleep. We keep the air around 68-70 degrees and make sure our sound machine nice and loud to drown out noise!
